After more than a year dedicated to research and development, graphic design, and user experience optimization, we are thrilled to announce the imminent release of version 6.0. This new version marks a significant evolution of our interface, aiming to offer a consumer application comparable to WhatsApp, Skype, and Telegram. You can check out our first article here: Discover the New Version of Linphone.
Beyond the new design, Linphone 6.0 also introduces several additional advanced features:
- Modernized Graphical Interface
Our teams collaborated with a UI/UX expert agency to redesign the user interface. Users will appreciate its smoothness, modernized design, and simple navigation, designed for everyday use.
- Unified Authentication with SSO
This new version includes support for unified authentication (SSO), a feature provided by our Flexisip server. This SSO simplifies integration into your information system and facilitates the deployment of the Linphone solution to your users. Feel free to contact us to evaluate the possibilities of integrating with your existing SSO system within your organization.
- Integrated FEC for Better Video Quality:
Forward Error Correction (FEC) is now enabled by default in Linphone 6.0. This feature ensures better video quality, even in unstable network conditions. By correcting packet loss in real-time, FEC guarantees smoother video communications. For more information, check out this talk: FOSDEM24 – Optimizing Video Calls with FEC.
- Video Conference: Screen Sharing
On desktop versions, users can now share their screens, making presentations, product demonstrations, and real-time collaborations easier. For mobile users, although screen sharing is not yet available, they can view screen shares from other participants.
- Improved Multi-Account Management
The multi-account management feature has been improved. Navigating from one account to another has been simplified and optimized, requiring only two clicks. Additionally, each account is compartmentalized, meaning that only conversations, calls, and meetings associated with the selected account will be visible.
This improvement is particularly useful for professionals who use multiple identities, or for those who want to separate personal calls from professional calls.
Attention developers: This version now supports Android 15 and introduces the transition to Qt 6 for desktop applications.
The release of Linphone 6.0 marks a turning point in design, features, and user experience. The improvements make this version smoother and simpler for both developers and users.
Stay informed, the official release of our product is approaching! In the meantime, we invite you to test the beta version on Android to discover the new features and help us identify bugs. Please note that this is a beta version, so it is still a work in progress, and some aspects may require adjustments.
